It doesn’t look like The Batman will get a release in 2018

It doesn’t look good for The Batman at the moment. The word on the street – we mean, the internet – is that the stand-alone Dark Knight film will not get its release in 2018. The reasons are allegedly because of new director Matt Reeves’ commitments to finishing off War For The Planet Of The Apes, the new big-budget sequel over at 20th Century Fox.

Variety’s Justin Kroll took to Twitter to explain.

Ben Affleck yesterday confirmed that he has completed a stint in rehab, and released the following statement via his Facebook account. After this went public a source told EW that the treatment “didn’t affect his involvement in The Batman” and work is still underway on the scripts.

“I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I’ve dealt with in the past and will continue to confront. I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step.

I’m lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I’ve done the work I set out to do. This was the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery.”

We wish him the best of luck, and obviously the same with The Batman, whenever it happens. We’re sure we’ll get to see the Dark Knight in his own movie soon, but as ever, if we hear anything new we’ll keep you posted.
