The Jungle Book director Jon Favreau is set to direct the pilot for The Big Bang Theory spin-off Young Sheldon for CBS. The show has just been picked up for a series order, and will air on the network towards the end of the year.
Young Sheldon follows Iain Armitage as the nine-year-old version of Jim Parson’s Sheldon Cooper where he is living with his family in East Texas and going to high school.
The planned series will also star Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Raegan Revord and Montana Jordan, with Jim Parsons narrating as the adult Sheldon.
It is expected to debut in 2017-2018 season.
