Warner Bros. have provided us with a new look at Wonder Woman via a new ‘origins’ trailer. The next DC movie arrives this summer and the studio are looking for a positive reaction to this first proper stand-alone movie in the franchise that breaks away from the ensemble movies that started with last year’s Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.
This one is wedged between that movie and the upcoming Justice League, and much is expected of it, but early word is mostly positive, so everything is absolutely crossed.
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
In this new trailer we get to see Diana Prince’s mother Hippolyta, played by Connie Nielsen, showing her to the weapons she’ll later use, and then the young warrior in training with Themyscira warrior General Antiope, played by Robin Wright. There are also glimpses of Chris Pine as Steve Trevor in the film, the American pilot who crashes on her land and warns Diana of a deadly threat to humanity.
Later on, there is some footage of the scenes filmed in the UK, particularly ‘hideous London’.
Gal Gadot leads the cast of the film, which opens on June 2nd. Watch the new trailer below.
