Statistically, there are 150 millions of gamblers among us. Another research claims it’s roughly every third of us. Every seventh can’t resist gambling. And every eleventh kicks the bucket thanks to gambling obsession. Three, seven, ace – quite symbolic, isn’t it? Only the toughest survive, which is decided by a competition. That’s true for producers too, as some of them bold enough to carry difficult gambling theme over the silver screen. Not all of them were done great, and below we present some of the best gambling scenes you can find in movies.
Casino Royale (2006)
Despite being a remake of James Bond old movie (1976), Casino Royale was indeed successful in keeping the audience with thrilling casino scenes. The story revolves around high roller Texas Holdem Poker tournament, where secret agent James Bond has to win back stolen money from the bad guy Le Chiffe. A number of James Bond films have amazing gambling scenes, but the Casino Royale final hand scene is probably one of the best gambling scenes in cinema.
Rounders
Rounders is a cult classic for those who began playing Texas Holdem in the 90s. The entire movie centres on gambling scenes, but it’s the final showdown between Law University student Michael McDermott and Teddy KGB that steals the spotlight. As they compete in a final round of Texas Holdem Poker, there is an incredible tension that keeps you engrossed before the film finally arrives at the desired outcome.
Austin Powers
Who else can play off James Bond genre as brilliantly as Mike Myers did in the Austin Powers series? Classic scene of blackjack when Powers sat down to play against Number Two is really well worth watching for those who love comedy. Although they play the game wrong, the scene is ridiculously funny and full with the whole liking to live dangerously aspect of it.
Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Crime comedy by Guy Ritchie telling the story of four adventurous friends from London collected £100,000 not to play slot games uk, but so one of them could join the underground tournament to fight against Harry Lonsdale “Hatchet”. The stakes rise crazily high during the game of Three Card Brag, and promising newcomer loses without even realising the game was not a fair play. And while the setting of the scene might not be a legitimate casino, the atmosphere of a card game at this boxing club, filled with high pressure and tension, is not in the least worse.
Rain Man
Shot at the Caesar’s Palace, one of the grandest gambling dens in the world, the 1988 movie Rain Main used gambling only as a backdrop while offering one of the most memorable gambling scenes in the cinema world. The scene where autistic Ray counts all the cards at a blackjack table is pretty appealing to all gambling movie lovers.
Among many films with great gambling scenes, these five hold something special. Whether you already saw them countless times or maybe not, each scene is definitely worth watching. Place your bets and enjoy the show!
