Margot Robbie to star in new Robin Hood movie ‘Marian’

The Hollywood Reporter are reporting that Margot Robbie is set to lead the cast of a new Robin Hood movie called Marian. The planned film is a new spin on the story, with the action taking place after the death of Robin Hood where Maid Marian becomes a legend in her own right.

The trade says that Marian unfolds after the death of Robin Hood, the love of her life. The titular maiden then picks up his cause to lead her people into a pivotal war that will not only decide the fate of the kingdom, but also see her don the mantle of the man she loved. In the process, she rises as a legend herself.

Marian is set up over at Sony Pictures, and Donald De Line, Amy Pascal and Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment will produce from a script by Pete Barry.

Marian is not the only Robin Hood movie in development. Robin Hood: Origins, which stars Taron Egerton, Jamie Foxx and Jamie Dornan is currently shooting with Peaky Blinders helmer Otto Bathurst at the helm.
