A remake of the 1987 screwball comedy Overboard is in the works with Anna Faris and Eugenio Derbez leading the cast. Deadline is reporting the news of the re-imagining of the original, which starred real-life couple Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.
The trade blog reports that the new movie ‘will feature a role reversal from the original and focus on a spoiled playboy from one of Mexico’s wealthiest families (Derbez) who falls overboard off his yacht, and is convinced by a single, working class mom (Faris) that he is her husband.’
Rob Greenberg and Bob Fisher are attached to write and direct the film which is heading for a May start in Vancouver, Canada.
