True Blood actor Stephen Moyer is set to lead the X-Men TV spin-off pilot over at Fox. The Hollywood Reporter says that the actor will join the already cast Jamie Chung and Blair Redford in the planned series from writer Matt Nix and director Bryan Singer.
The trade says that the ‘action-adventure project focuses on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.’
Moyer will play the character of Reed, an ambitious attorney trying to balance the demands of his job at the DA’s office with his responsibilities to his family.
The pilot will shoot this year with a hope that the network takes it to series. Unlike the now-running Legion, the series is expected to take place within the X-Men movie universe.
