Hugh Jackman: There will be no Wolverine & Deadpool team-up

Wolverine and Deadpool movie

Wolverine and Deadpool movie? Not likely.

Hugh Jackman is hard at work on the press tour for Logan, which is currently position somewhere in the UK. The film is getting rave reviews following its debut at the Berlin Film Festival this past week, but thoughts are already turning to what’s next for the metal-clawed mutant. There has always been talk of a Wolverine and Deadpool movie, but Jackman says that it will never happen.

In a Facebook live interview this week, the actor had the following to say on the matter.

“No, and Ryan is currently sleeping outside my house. [Laughs] Look, if that movie had appeared ten years ago, probably a different story, but I knew two and a half years ago that this was the last one.”

“The first call I made was to [Logan director James Mangold]. I said, ‘Jim, I got one more shot at this,’ and as soon as Jim came up with the idea and we worked on it, I was never more excited. But, it feels like the right time. Deadpool, go for it man, do your thing. You don’t need me.”

So bad news then. Well, yes, but there may be some positive news too. We reported that they could be a post-credits scene included in Logan, but director James Mangold shot down those rumours on Twitter just yesterday:

The big news is that there could be a pre-credits scene, one that may feature Deadpool and Wolvie on screen? There’s your Wolverine and Deadpool movie… I’m speculating there, but know knows, it could work. Whatever it is will be around three minutes in length. We’ll know on March 1st when it is finally released in UK cinemas.
