Exclusive: Dane DeHaan on 70s-style scary movies and A Cure For Wellness

Dane DeHaan interview

Dane DeHaan interview for A Cure For Wellness.

A couple of weeks ago, we had the opportunity to sit down with actor Dane Dehaan, the 31-year-old actor who leads the cast of this week’s A Cure For Wellness, the new film from Gore Verbinski, which comes to the screen courtesy of 20th Century Fox. Check out that Dane DeHaan interview below.

DeHaan plays the role of Lockhart in the film, a Wall Street stockbroker who travels to a remote location in the Swiss Alps to retrieve his company’s CEO (Harry Groener) from an idyllic but mysterious wellness center. He soon suspects that the miraculous treatments are not what they seem. His sanity is tested when he unravels the spa’s terrifying secrets and finds himself diagnosed with the same curious illness that keeps all of the guests there longing for a cure.

We spoke about what attracted to the film, and particularly with Verbinski.

“Gore talked to me about wanting to make a movie that was inspired by the great thrillers of the 70s; my favourite scary movies,” DeHaan said to us. “That was really exciting for me. I read the script, and it seemed to be that, but it seemed more than that, something original about it, and modern about it. I didn’t think any director could pull it off, but I thought maybe Gore could. I knew it was going to be a huge challenge, but I could get behind the message. It had everything that I look for in a project.”

We’ll have a full review of A Cure For Wellness for you later in the week, but you can check out our full Dane DeHaan interview in the YouTube player below.

A Cure For Wellness opens in the UK on Friday 24th February, 2017, courtesy of 20th Century Fox.
