Jack Nicholson is set to make a return to the big screen in the English-language remake of the German comedy Toni Erdmann. The film, which was released in UK cinemas last week after debuting at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, centers on a reluctant woman who must spend time with her estranged father when he comes for a surprise visit. The woman in the remake will be played by Kristen Wiig.
Paramount Pictures are behind the movie after bagging the remake rights, and Wiig will co-produce alongside Adam McKay, Will Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum of Gloria Sanchez Productions.
There is currently a vacancy for a writer and director for the film, so reports Variety. The original film is up for best foreign language film at this year’s Academy Awards.
We’ll bring you more news on the remake as we get it. Read our very positive review of Toni Erdmann over here.
