Dwayne Johnson is set to produce and take a role in a new film titled Fighting With My Family, which will be written and directed by The Office co-creator Stephen Merchant. The film is loosely based on the life of WWE Diva Paige (pictured) and her family of pro wrestlers.
It is inspired by Channel 4 documentary The Wrestlers: Fighting With My Family, so says trade blog Deadline. Florence Pugh will star as Paige in the film, while Jack Lowden will play her brother Zak.
Deadline has more about the plot:
[The film] follows the story of reformed gangster and former wrestler Ricky, his wife Julia, daughter Saraya and son Zak who make a living performing in tiny venues across the country. Ricky and Julia want a better life for their children and when brother and sister get the chance to audition for the WWE, it seems the family dream is coming true and all their troubles will be solved. However, Saraya and Zak are about to learn that becoming a WWE Superstar demands more than they ever imagined possible as athletes and siblings.
The film is set up at WWE Films, Film 4 and Johnson’s Seven Bucks production house. Shooting will kick off in Los Angeles and London this month.
