The U.S. trailer for Iko Uwais’ action flick Headshot will kick you in the nuts

Headshot trailer: Iko Uwais unleashes hell in this action-packed revenge film from Kimo Stamboel and Timo Tjahjanto.

The new U.S. Headshot trailer has landed online with force, gusto and an absolute kick to the nuts. The film, which is led by The Raid and The Raid 2 star Iko Uwais, played at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2016 during its riotous Midnight Madness programme, and experience that I will never forget. It is absolute wall-to-wall carnage (both in the film and during that very noisy screening).

The film is martial arts action film, very much in the same vein as Gareth Evans’ epic is directed by Kimo Stamboel and Timo Tjahjanto and revolves around Uwais’ unnamed man who quite literally washes up on a beach in Indonesia with no knowledge of who he is and where he is from. A young doctor, Ailin (Chelsea Islan), takes him under her wing and nurses him back to health from serious head trauma and gives him he name of Ismael from Moby Dick. Once ably-fit, Uwais is discharged and his past slowly starts to catch up with him. Allin is then kidnapped by the villainous  Lee (Sunny Pang), a vicious drug lord who will stop at nothing to lure him into his sights. Along the way to save the young doctor, Ishmael must endure and defeat multiple street-hoods, heavies and figures from his past who are relentlessly pursuing him.

We saw the film at Midnight Madness, and afterwards, in our original review, we described the film is a decent genre pic which action fans will surely devour entirely. The film will release in cinemas across the world from March 3rd, and we’ll have tons more coverage, including an exclusive interview with the cast coming up over the next couple of weeks.
