The Wire and The Affair star Dominic West is to play the father of Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider reboot, which is now in production, so reports Heat Vision.
The Wave helmer Roar Uthaug is directing the reboot from a screenplay by Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Transformers: The Last Knight), while Jason Bourne and The Danish Girl actress Alicia Vikander is playing Croft.
The film follows Lara Croft as she sets out on her first expedition to finish her father’s research and uncover ancient secrets in order to clear his disgraced name. West will play the part of aristocrat and archeologist Lord Richard Croft, a key figure in the Raider series. Jon Voight played the part in the Angelina Jolie run of movies.
Shooting is underway on the new film, which has a March 16th, 2018 release date etched in.
