Actor Woody Harrelson is said to be heading to the Star Wars universe. The actor, who we most recently saw in the superb comedy The Edge Of Seventeen is reportedly in talks to play Han Solo’s mentor in the forthcoming stand-alone movie, which kicks off production this year.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie, 21 Jump Street) are directing the film for Lucasfilm/ Disney, which sees the very talented Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar) take the lead role. Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan are writing the film for the studio, which is also said to feature the iconic character of Chewbacca (possibly to be played by The Force Awakens‘ Joonas Suotamo – though that’s not been confirmed by anyone tied to the production).

There’s not a lot else concerning Harrelson’s role, but it looks like it will be a busy year for the True Detective actor. He also has a big role in Matt Reeves’ War For The Planet Of The Apes, and has Rob Reiner’s political biopic LBJ due in cinemas sometime this year.

The Han Solo movie is reportedly now eyeing a December 2018 release, pushed back seven months (possibly to try and duplicate the holiday success enjoyed by last month’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which has now grossed over $800 million in a matter of weeks).

Also starring in the film is Emilia Clarke in an unnamed role, as well as Donald Glover who will play the part of Lando Calrissian (played by Billy Dee Williams in the original Star Wars trilogy).

That’s all that we have now. We’ll bring you more as it is thrusted our way.
