Ben Affleck has added some comments to his planned stand-alone Batman movie, and has said that he would not tackle the colossal DC/ Warner Brothers movie unless the script is great.

The actor, who also plays the iconic character on screen has been speaking to The Guardian newspaper in the UK where he touched upon the project and his plans to direct the film.

“That’s the idea. But it’s not a set thing and there’s no script. If it doesn’t come together in a way I think is really great I’m not going to do it.”

Affleck will assume the role in this year’s Justice League, which Zack Snyder is helming, and will then head to the stand-alone movie for a 2018 release, but it still sounds like there’s some work to do still on the screenplay.

The film will see Joe Manganiello star as the villainous Deathstroke while Jeremy Irons returns as Alfred, and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.

Affleck has a new film out himself this month, the crime movie Live By Night, which is released on January 13th. The film, which he also directed, follows an impressive 2016, which was topped off by The Accountant, which did really well for the actor in terms of box-office.

Affleck and DC chief Geoff Johns are writing the script for the Batman movie, which is being referred to still as simply ‘The Batman’, and a spring 2017 start date has been mentioned as a possible shoot date. As always, we’ll keep you posted.

It’s a really rather interesting read where Affleck reflects on his career and right at the end sees the actor tip his hat to Robin Williams who he credits with launching his career with his involvement with the Oscar-winning film Good Will Hunting.
