We are hearing from a variety of sources that Warner Brothers and Christopher Nolan are planning to show off 7 minutes of IMAX 70mm footage from their upcoming WWII movie Dunkirk prior to some showings of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
The news is sourced from Slashfilm who report that around fifteen IMAX theaters around the globe will show the footage to gain a little momentum for the film ahead of its release in 2017. The site reports that it has not been confirmed if the footage will be confined to the 70mm IMAX showings of ‘Rogue One’ (in 2D, or if it will take place in front of all IMAX showings of the highly anticipated Star Wars spin-off.
If it is the 70mm 2D, we’re guessing that it will be purely confined to the BFI IMAX cinema in Waterloo in the UK – though that’s obviously not been confirmed.
Dunkirk stars Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh, and Harry Styles, and will hit cinemas on July 21st, 2017.
