2017 Independent Spirit Awards Nominations announced

The 2017 Independent Spirit Awards nominations have been announced and it’s great news for festival favourites American Honey, Chronic, Jackie, Moonlight and Manchester By The Sea, all of which have been nominated in the Best Feature category.

Andrea Arnold, Barry Jenkins and Pablo Larrain, who helmed three of those pictures are also featured in the Best Director category, along with Jeff Nichols for Loving and Kelly Reichardt for Certain Women. In Best Male Lead there are nods for Casey Affleck for Manchester By The Sea, David Harewood for Free In Deed, Viggo Mortensen for the excellent Captain Fantastic, Jesse Plemons for Other People and Tim Roth for Chronic. In the Best Female Lead category are Annette Bening for 20th Century Women, Isabelle Huppert for Elle, Sasha Lane for American Honey, Ruth Negga for Loving, and Natalie Portman for Jackie.
