Last week, we got to see our first lot of images from Disney’s forthcoming live-action version of their 1990s animated film Beauty and the Beast, and now we have a brand new poster.
It seems like we’ve been waiting an age for the film to arrive, and indeed there are still six months to go until it is finally on our screens, but in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, actress Emma Watson gave more information in regards to her character of Belle, who will be slightly different to the one we saw in the original animated effort.
“In the animated movie, it’s her father who is the inventor, and we actually co-opted that for Belle,” said Watson to the magazine. “I was like, ‘Well, there was never very much information or detail at the beginning of the story as to why Belle didn’t fit in, other than she liked books. Also what is she doing with her time?’ So, we created a backstory for her, which was that she had invented a kind of washing machine, so that, instead of doing laundry, she could sit and use that time to read instead. So, yeah, we made Belle an inventor.”
The film also stars the likes of Dan Stevens (as Beast), Luke Evans, Kevin Kline and Josh Gad, with the voices of Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Ian McKellen, and Emma Thompson.
