Shooting has commenced on David Ayer‘s first film since this summer’s Suicide Squad. The film is called Bright and stars ‘Skwad’ alumni Will Smith in the lead role. Joel Edgerton, Lucy Fry and Noomi Rapace also feature in proceedings.
The film has a reported $90 million budget which Netflix has the distribution rights to the movie, which sees Smith play police officer Scott Ward. The film takes place in a modern-day Los Angeles where humans co-habit with Orcs. Edgerton will play Ward’s partner in he film – himself an Orc with the plot having a similar dynamic to Ayer’s LA-set crime-drama End Of Watch.
