Mark Swift and Damian Shannon, the duo behind the forthcoming Baywatch movie, have been hired to pen the reboot of Starship Troopers, which is in active development. The new film will be based on the sci-fi war novel by Robert A. Heinlein.
Paul Verhoeven brought an ultra violent movie of the book to screens back in 1997 (was it really that long ago?).
The book, and previous film, revolved around a recruit of the future who goes through the toughest boot camp in the Universe–and into battle with the Terran Mobile Infantry against mankind’s most frightening enemy.
The new film will be a total reboot, so don’t expect any of the previous actors (Casper Van Dien, Denise Richards etc) to return.
