With the news that Paramount Pictures are already planning the fifth instalment of Transformers, it once again shows how those retro cartoons of the 1980s are turning into a good source of inspiration for the Hollywood movie studios.

Hollywood has had a history of turning animated TV hits into live action movies with the likes of The Flintstones, Josie and the Pussycats and even Scooby Doo attempting to give these 1960s shows a new lease of life.

But by revisiting the cartoons of the 1980s with movies such as the Inspector Gadget and Dennis the Menace films, they show how quick the entertainment industry is to revamp relatively recent pop culture for millennial audiences.

It was 2007’s Transformers movie that showed how serious Hollywood were about these 1980s cartoons. With a massive budget, plenty of special effects, and solid performances from Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf, the Transformers movies may not have won over the critics, but they stayed true to the history of the franchise that’s been highlighted at Lucky Nugget Casino and also earned phenomenal amount of box office revenues.

The fact that Transformers has managed to become a successful movie franchise and mobile slots hit has provided Hollywood executives with an excuse to cast their eyes over other 1980s cartoon hits.

Already the director of Terminator Salvation and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle has given some exciting hints about what we can expect from his upcoming Masters of the Universe reboot.

Although there has been already been a disappointing 1987 He Man movie, the planned reboot will attempt to do the cartoon series justice. Already the likes of Margot Robbie and Kellan Lutz have been mentioned by the director, but it remains to be seen who will play the all-important roles of She Ra, Skeletor and Battle Cat!

Anybody who grew up in the 1980s will also be frustrated by the fact that the Thundercats movie has been endlessly postponed. But despite multiple failures to get the project going, there are reports that a project called Blitzkrieg that features Chris Hemsworth and Mila Jovovich could actually be the long-awaited Thundercats movie.

Alongside these exciting rumours is the fascinating news that action director John Woo is planning to bring a live action remake of BraveStarr to cinema screens in 2018. And with even Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles becoming unlikely movie stars, perhaps they will soon receive their own mobile slots game soon too!
