Sylvester Stallone is to headline a sequel to his 2013 movie Escape Plan. His role is said to be reduced to a supporting capacity in the new one though, but there will be no sign of co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger this time around, so reports Deadline.
Escape Plan follows Stallone’s Ray Breslin, a tough guy who knows how to infiltrate a prison — and bust out of one. His latest job leads to a double-cross, leaving him stuck in a high-tech facility with the worst that society has to offer. Luckily for Ray, he meets Emil Rottmayer (Arnold Schwarzenegger), an inmate who secretly helps him hatch a plot to win his freedom. Only sadistic warden Hobbes (Jim Caviezel) stands in the way of the two men successfully making it out alive.
Miles Chapman, who wrote the first film, will return for the sequel, which will be shopped at the American Film Market this week. Expect a Chinese element to feature prominently in the sequel as the original performed very well in the region and took quite a lot of the $137 million the film grossed globally.
Shooting will kick off in March, 2017.
