The Incredibles 2 will be released a full year early, so reports The Hollywood Reporter. The Brad Bird-directed sequel, which was due to hit cinemas in 2019, will now be released on June 15, 2018, while Toy Story 4 will hit theaters on June 21, 2019 – effectively the two films have swapped debut dates.
The reason for it? Well, the trade says that it is due to an accelerated production schedule for Incredibles 2, which is great news for fans of the original movie, which grossed $633 million when it was released back in 2004. It’s bad news for fans of the Toy Story franchise though as we’re going to have to wait while they develop the script – we want it right after all, don’t we?
The new date for The Incredibles 2 means it will be sandwiched between the releases of ‘Transformers 6’ and the sequel to Jurassic World.
We’ll bring you more as it comes our way.
