Ice Cube is teaming with The Walt Disney Company for a new musical version of Oliver Twist, so reports The Hollywood Reporter.
The film will be brought to the screen by the acclaimed director Thomas Kail, the Tony-winning director of Hamilton, the Broadway show which will debut in the West End in 2017. The story revolves around an ‘orphan boy who moves from a life as an exploited child labourer to being under the wings of Fagin, a leader of a gang of London pickpockets. Hardship, murders and secrets waiting to be revealed follow the boy.’ Cube will play Fagin in the film which will also have a hip-hop vibe to it.
No news on when this will roll into production, but we’re guessing relatively soon. We will, of course, keep you updated.
