Academy Award winning British actor Colin Firth has joined Emily Blunt in the cast of the forthcoming Mary Poppins sequel Mary Poppins Returns over at Disney, so reports Variety.
The film will start shooting next year and will actually be set 25 years after the events of the first movie where Michael and Jane Banks (Ben Whishaw and Emily Mortimer) get a visit from their childhood nanny, the magical Mary Poppins (Blunt).
Meryl Streep and Lin-Manuel Miranda are also amongst the cast.
Variety reports that Firth will be playing William Weatherall Wilkins, president of Fidelity Fiduciary Bank.
Rob Marshall is directing the film for Disney with a release date of December 25th 2018 already set.
Colin Firth will next be seen in Genius and then the comedy-action sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle in 2017.
