It sounds like the third movie in the Thor series, Thor: Ragnarok, which is now shooting on Australia’s Gold Coast, is set to be a very different movie from its previous movies, and may even ignore the Marvel Cinematic Universe altogether.
By saying ‘ignoring’, we mean being its own entity – a stand-alone Thor movie that has its own voice. Director Taika Waititi was taking part in a Reddit AMA recently, and here’s what he had to [very briefly] say:
“I made an effort to ignore the fact there are other Thor films. I honestly know NOTHING outside of what I’m doing. I’m trying to ignore the rest of the universe and just make my own awesome movie.”
The director, who dropped the awesome Hunt For The Wilderpeople very recently in the UK, went on to refer to the film’s potential ‘retro’ feel. “Our film feels like that… and more. I think [Thor: Ragnarok] will be one of the most adventurous and most ‘out there’ of all the Marvel movies. It’s a crazy movie. You can expect a Taika-esque tone. They’ve been very accepting of my style.”
Thor: Ragnarok will be the film which leads into the next Avengers movie, following this month’s Doctor Strange, next year’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, and of course Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Thor: Ragnarok will debut in cinemas next November with Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as the title character, with Tom Hiddleston and Karl Urban also amongst the cast.
More as it comes our way.
