John Wick proved that Keanu Reeves was back. The action film saw a retired assassin drawn back into the criminal underbelly after becoming a victim of a home invasion. It was a huge sleeper smash and is easily one of the best action movies of the 21st century. Even better was the news that a sequel was on the way, and now we are just four months from being able to see John Wick: Chapter 2.
The sequel will see Reeves reunited with his Matrix co-star Laurence Fishburne in a story that will, at least in part, take place in Rome. The rest of the cast is made of returning players Ian McShane, Lance Reddick and John Leguizamo as well new faces Common and Ruby Rose. During its panel at New York Comic-Con a first poster and trailer were unveiled.
During the panel director Chad Stahelski and writer Derek Kolstad shared that the events of Chapter 2 take place just four days after the original. Wick was in pretty bad shape at the end of that one so let’s hope that he heals quick. It was also highlighted that Fishburne came on-board after meeting Keanu at a social gathering, and revealed himself to be a fan of John Wick. The team then set about writing a part just for him, and they described the role as being a pseudo-ally for John.
John Wick: Chapter 2 hits US cinemas on 10 February 2017, and then heads to the UK on 17 February.
