He’s brought two very successful comedy franchises to screens in the past few years – the Meet The Parents and Austin Powers trilogies, but now Jay Roach is looking at teaming with Amblin Entertainment for the forthcoming Intelligent Life, so reports Variety.
According to the trade, Roach will rewrite Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly‘s screenplay, and potentially direct the film for Amblin after Ava DuVernay jumped ship to helm Disney’s A Wrinkle In Time.
The story is described as a sci-fi romance revolving around a United Nation employee who makes contact with a beautiful woman, who may be an alien, while monitoring outer space.
At the moment Roach is just giving that script a polish, but the Amblin are said for the filmmaker to take a bigger role once he’s done. His last film was the more serious Trumbo which took a bow at last year’s London Film Festival.
