Horror Channel FrightFest and August Bank Holiday seem but a distant memory now. The four day event saw the Vue Shepherd’s Bush overtaken for a massive celebration of the dark heart of cinema. It’s one of our favourite genre festivals and we’re not going to lie, we’ve been having some serious withdrawals. Happily though the team behind the festival have clubbed together an exciting line-up of new scares just in time for Halloween. Shocktoberfest will screen a total of six films all in one day, you’ll need nerves of steel to last the distance.

First up will be the UK premiere of Bed of the Dead, a film which we caught earlier this year at Fantasia Film Festival. It features a blood-thirsty bed and has a distinct Hellraiser vibe. Next comes the UK premiere of Don’t Hang Up where an evening of prank calls puts the perpetrators in peril when one recipient decides to fight back. Then they will yet another UK premiere, this time for Cold Moon, a story from the writer of Beetlejuice and The Nightmare before Christmas.

The fourth film on the rosta will be the UK premiere of Fear Inc. an intriguing tale about a company who promise to bring all your nightmares to life. Why anyone would be into this we have no idea but we guess we’ll see when we watch the film. The penultimate offering Rupture (another UK first) features Girl with the Dragon Tattoo star Noomi Rapace. The event will finish with Headshot, a non-stop violent action movie which stars Iko Uwais from The Raid as an amnesiac trying to regain memories about his sadistic and extraordinary past.

Tickets go on sale at noon on 1st October. Full ticketing details can be found over on the FrightFest website.
