A third stand-alone Star Wars movie has been confirmed for cinemas in the year 2020. The news was delivered by Disney head-honcho Bob Iger at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia conference (via Deadline).
There is already a stand-alone Star Wars movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story set for this December, along with the another set for release in 2018 revolving around the early years of Han Solo.
Of course, there are no details on who will be the focus of that third story, but Iger did comment on Rogue One saying “the level of interest [in Rogue One] is as high as it was for Force Awakens”, and after viewing a rough cut, that “we love what we’ve seen”.
Gareth Edwards is directing the movie for the studio, with a release date of December 15th already set.
