It’s coming up to 30 years since the iconic Predator locked horns with a young Arnold Schwarzenegger. While the Austrian Oak’s fortunes have varied of late, his former opponent is set for another round of hunt the human… and this time the brooding presence of Benicio del Toro could be brought into play.
20th Century Fox are reportedly keen to sign the Usual Suspects star for fresh entry The Predator. Action supremo Shane Black is on board to direct. Black appeared in the original flick in a supporting role and the nostalgia trip doesn’t end there. The script bears the name of Eighties legend Fred Dekker (The Monster Squad) and one man blockbuster machine Joel Silver (Die Hard, Lethal Weapon) is one of the producers.
Arnie declined the sequel, leading the dreadlocked death dealer to face such acting heavyweights as Danny Glover and Adrien Brody. While del Toro certainly has the dramatic chops required, he’s surely too sinister a foe, even for a big scary alien! After all this is the guy who really put the wolf into The Wolf Man, in addition to villainous turns in Guardians Of The Galaxy and the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VIII.
We’ll see how the title monster fares once the ink has dried on the contract.
