Martial arts/ action movie legend Jackie Chan will received an honourary Oscar from the Academy Of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences in November.
He will be awarded the lifetime achievement award along with editor Anne Coates, casting director Lynn Stalmaster and documentary maker Frederick Wiseman.
Chan, now 62, has appeared in over 100 productions over his multiple decade long career. Starting out in Hong Kong’s martial arts cinema, Chan became an international star with films like Police Story before heading west to Hollywood to act in films like Rush Hour and Shanghai Noon. He most recently lent his voice to Kung Fu Panda 3, and appears in this weekend’s US release Skiptrace, opposite Johnny Knoxville.
Editor Anne Coates has over 50 credits to her name as editor in her 60+ year career. The British editor has worked on the likes of Lawrence of Arabia, for which she won the Oscar, as well as Chaplin, The Elephant Man, Out Of Sight, Erin Brockovich and last year’s Fifty Shades of Grey. Coates received the BAFTA Fellowship in 2007.
Lynn Stalmaster has worked on more than 200 feature films, including The Graduate and Deliverance, while and Frederick Wiseman has made almost a film a year since 1967, his most recent works being National Gallery and In Jackson Heights.
The four statuettes will be dished out at the Governors Awards ceremony in November.
