Everyone’s favourite movie villain Christoph Waltz may be playing the character of Dr. Dyson Ido in the forthcoming adaptation of the Manga series Alita: Battle Angel. Maze Runner actress Rosa Salazar is playing the title character in the planned movie, which is set to be directed by Robert Rodriguez.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Waltz has officially entered talks to play Dyson in the film, who isn’t actually a bad guy, but mentor to Alita.
The trade says that the film is set in the 26th century and tells the story of a female cyborg (Salazar) that is discovered in a scrapyard by a scientist. With no memory of her previous life except her deadly martial-arts training, the woman becomes a bounty hunter, tracking down criminals. The action-adventure story is meant to serve as a backdrop to themes of self-discovery and the search for love.
Waltz, should he take the role, would play the scientist Dyson.
James Cameron and Jon Landau are producing the film for 20th Century Fox. The film is said to be aiming for a July 2018 release.
