The shortlist for the directing gig on the forthcoming Captain Marvel has been revealed in a new article on The Hollywood Reporter. The high-profile Marvel movie, which will see Brie Larson (Room) take the lead role, will hit cinemas in March 2019, so quite a ways off yet.
Niki Caro, Lesli Linka Glatter and Lorene Scafaria are the three female directors attached to the project, which won’t even start shooting until next year at the absolute earliest. Caro is known for her work on Whale Rider and McFarland, while Glatter has helmed episodes of both Homeland and The Walking Dead. Scafaria has directed both The Meddler and Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.
Marvel will be taking their time with this one apparently, so don’t expect any further announcements any time soon, but its an interesting trio of talented filmmakers, I’m sure you’ll agree. The trade does add that there may be further names to join that list as time goes on.
We’ll keep you posted.
