Some intriguing news from films of yesteryear now with this little tidbit of information from Vin Diesel. Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren, and Kurt Russell may all be lining up to star opposite Diesel in the forthcoming Fast 8, but it seems that another box-office heavyweight was set to join the franchise instead of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in the fifth movie in the series.
Diesel posted a video to his very popular Facebook page (which has 100 million followers plus), where he revealed the following:
“Back in the fifth film, I was asking ‘Who should I work with?’ The reason why we brought Dwayne Johnson into Fast Five was because of you. There was a girl named Jen (maybe, Jan?) Kelly who said, ‘I would love to see you guys work together on-screen.’ And so, we gave a role that was initially written for Tommy Lee Jones but we gave it to Dwayne, and he shined in it.”
Of course he did, and then some – some would even argue that he even owned that movie as Hobbs, a character who we’ve grown to love in the two released movies since. However, we can;t help but imagine just what Tommy Lee Jones would have brought to the movie.
