Snatch TV series

The Snatch TV series is officially a go. Yes, that’s right, a film version of Guy Ritchie’s 2000 crime movie will go into production with former Harry Potter star Rupert Grint leading the cast.

Deadline reports that Grint, most known for his role as Ron Weasley in the Potter series, will star as a frustratingly chaotic and utterly posh character named Charlie Cavendish, and will also serve as an executive producer. Dougray Scott will star as Vic Hill, and Ed Westwick will guest star as Sonny Castillo. The series was officially announced back in April of this year.

Inspired by a real life heist in London, the Snatch TV series centers on a group of twenty-something, up and coming hustlers who stumble upon a truck load of stolen gold bullion and are suddenly thrust into the high-stakes world of organised crime. The boys must quickly learn to navigate the treacherous waters of London’s underworld as rogue cops, gypsy fighters, international mobsters and local villains descend.

Snatch the film

The original film revolved around illegal boxing promoter Turkish (Jason Statham) who convinces gangster Brick Top (Alan Ford) to offer bets on bare-knuckle boxer Mickey (Brad Pitt) at his bookie business. When Mickey does not throw his first fight as agreed, an infuriated Brick Top demands another match. Meanwhile, gangster Frankie Four Fingers (Benicio Del Toro) comes to place a bet for a friend with Brick Top’s bookies, as multiple criminals converge on a stolen diamond that Frankie has come to London to sell.

We’re hoping and praying that Alan Ford is involved in some way.

Shooting is expected to start next week in Manchester, England with the capturing the spirit of Ritchie’s original, which starred Brad Pitt, Jason Statham and Vinnie Jones, amongst many others. The series is expected to screen in 2017 with ten one episodes. It will debut on Crackle in the US with a UK network still to be announced.

We’ll bring you more news on the Snatch TV series as it comes in.

You bet your bollocks to a brand dance that we’re going to post a Brick Top montage…
