‘An American Werewolf In London’ remake in the works?

An American Werewolf In London remake on the cards?

Some pretty heavy rumours have surfaced surrounding An American Werewolf In London remake.

An American Werewolf In London remake

Some pretty big news has maybe reared its head online as new reaches us via Bloody Disgusting that a remake of perhaps one of the best horror films of all time could be on the way. An American Werewolf in London, which was directed by the great John Landis could be getting a makeover courtesy of his son, Max.

Max Landis, the writer of the superb Chronicle, could be plotting a remake:

We’ve been poking around this for quite some time, but it’s been all but confirmed by the writer behind it – Max Landis. Yes, John’s son, who scripted the awesome Chronicle, as well as Victor Frankenstein and the upcoming “Channel Zero” on Syfy, is allegedly penning a modern take on his father’s classic.

So the tweet in question which sparked all of the rumours I couldn’t actually locate, but BD has it on their site, and it reads the following:

Since I get the question all the time:
There’s only one of my dad’s movies I’d ever be willing to try to remake and I’m already doing it.

Like I said, if you click that date link, it isn’t there any more, so take all of this with a pinch of salt as no title is revealed in it, but the usually reliable Bloody Disgusting have dones some digging and are pretty set that An American Werewolf In London remake is definitely the film being referred to.

Here’s a recap of the original 1981 movie’s synopsis:

David (David Naughton) and Jack (Griffin Dunne), two American college students, are backpacking through Britain when a large wolf attacks them. David survives with a bite, but Jack is brutally killed. As David heals in the hospital, he’s plagued by violent nightmares of his mutilated friend, who warns David that he is becoming a werewolf. When David discovers the horrible truth, he contemplates committing suicide before the next full moon causes him to transform from man to murderous beast.

I don’t know if I read this on Bloody Disgusting, could have been any via another film news source but I found not long after Landis posted this tweet that it got deleted. Maybe he still wants it heavy under wraps.
