5 Times Family Guy predicted the future

Family Guy, an American Sitcom, was first aired in 1999. Created by Seth MacFarlane, it has exploded into one of the world’s biggest TV cartoon sitcoms. With its low brow humour and social commentary, it became an overnight sensation, leaving its mark on many different platforms. From TV Series and full length movies, to Broadway shows, even earning its very own branded slot games. The franchise is rumoured to be worth a whopping $2 Billion dollars!

It is no wonder then that the creator is so high and mighty that he can predict the future! We found no less than5 times the writers of Family Guy eerily predicted the future, spooky…

 

  • Bruce Jenner

 

In the 2009 episode “We love you, Conrad” Brian insists that Bruce is ‘a man,’ Stewie replies: ‘No Brian, that’s what the press would have you believe but he’s not. Bruce Jenner is a woman. An elegant, beautiful, Dutch woman.’ 

 In April 2015, Bruce Jenner was featured on the cover of Vanity Fair, officially announcing her transition to Caitlyn Jenner.

  • Antonin Scalia

 

In the 2007 episode “Meet the Quagmires”, the show makes a reference to Dick Cheney’s infamous hunting incident. In one scene, Death declares that Supreme Court Justice Scalia has been shot dead by Dick Cheney in a hunting accident. Almost exactly 10 years later, Antonin Scalia was found dead whilst on a hunting trip. The pair were known to be close friends.

 

  • Paul Walker

 

In the November 2013 episode “Life of Brian”, after a few time travel related mishaps, Brian is killed by an out of control driver. Merely a week later, Fast and Furious star Paul Walker, whose character in the hit franchise was also called Brian, was killed in a car crash when the Porsche he was a passenger in struck a concrete lamppost.

  • Robin Williams

 

In the 2012 episode “Family Guy Viewer Mail 2”, Peter gets offended watching Jeff Ross insult Robin Williams. He runs out of the house screaming at God that he wishes everyone were Robin Williams, only to be struck by lightning. After waking up in hospital, he finds he has the power to turn everything he touches into Robin Williams. Eventually driving him insane, Peter tries to take his own life, only to fail as everything he uses turns into Williams. Merely seconds after a re-run of the episode was aired in the UK in 2014, the news was reported on the very same channel of Robin Williams tragic suicide.

  • Boston Marathon Bombings

 

In the 2013 episode “Turban Cowboy”, Peter reminisces during a TV interview about winning the Boston Marathon by committing mass murder and killing everyone with his car. In another scene, Peter uses a mobile phone to detonate remote bombs and blow up a bridge after unwittingly befriending a terrorist. A little over three weeks after the episode aired, 6 people were killed and 280 people were injured by a bombing at the Boston Marathon.
