Warner Brothers are reportedly planning a direct sequel to Man Of Steel to continue their current run of stand-alone Superman movies. TheWrap is the outlet to report the news, and report that the project is in ‘active development’ at the studio.
The website reports that the film will likely see a release after Wonder Woman, which is the next big DC movie to hits screens in 2017, Justice League, which is now shooting for a late 2017 release, a stand-alone Aquaman movie, which is set for 2018, and a stand-alone Batman movie from Ben Affleck, which currently has no release date. Warner Brothers has two untitled DC films to be released on Oct. 5, 2018 and Nov. 1, 2019, so we could possibly expect to see Superman fly on one of those dates. We’re guessing the latter. If true, that would mean it would be six years between the two Superman flicks, however we have seen him in this year’s Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice and will see him again in Justice League.
Henry Cavill will strap on the hot pants for another adventure, but none of this has been confirmed by the studio as yet.
Man Of Steel earned $668 million worldwide back in 2013, while Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, essentially a follow-up and the scene-setter for the rest of the DC movies, pulled in $872 million.
We’ll bring you more news on Man Of Steel 2 as it comes our way.
