Here’s why you haven’t seen any of the ‘Guardians 2’ Comic Con footage

James Gunn: No Hulk or Captain Marvel in Guardians 2

We’ve been treated to a whole bunch of geek goodness over the past few days, all of it coming from the direction of San Diego where the annual Comic Con took place. We may have seen some treats from Doctor Strange, Wonder Woman, Justice League and much more, one thing we didn’t see was the footage that was screened in Hall H from Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2.  Well, it turns out there’s quite a good reason for that as director James Gunn reveals in a new Facebook post.

“I’ve gotten a lot of questions about why is Marvel not releasing the footage we showed at Comic-Con,” Gunn said on FB. “Of course, I want to share with you guys everything. But here’s the thing: the footage we had at Comic-Con will eventually be seen by the public, but in a more finished form. It’s still very early days. We’ve only stopped shooting for a month. We presented a huge scene […] and a teaser trailer of sorts, and the visual effects are not finished. I’m a perfectionist, and the truth is, it’s not something neither I nor Marvel are comfortable with having out there, subjected to repeat viewings.”

We hope to see it soon – we’re guessing nearer to the time when Doctor Strange premieres in November.
