UK charity The Butterfly Garden to hold special screening of ‘The BFG’

The BFG review

The BFG

Obviously we here at The Hollywood News firmly support the work of charity here in the UK, especially those which cross over into the world of film. One such charity is The Butterfly Garden based just outside of Cheltenham, which just so happens to be my home town…

The Butterfly Garden is an educational, recreational and therapeutic provision for people of all ages dealing with issues that are disabling to their journey. It is a totally free provision and is very diverse in the opportunities it provides, ranging from gardening and cooking to recycling and drama and much more. At the heart of their ethos is a desire to encourage the liberation of imaginations and the recognition of an entitlement to adventure.

The Butterfly Garden is organising a special gala film evening as a gentle fundraiser and this September will screen the Steven Spielberg re-imagining of Roald Dahl’s The BFG, which co-incidentally, comes out in UK cinemas today. The Butterfly Garden is affectionately known as the BFG (and constantly receives mail and e-mails addressed thus), so it’s perfect that the film has been chosen for their autumn event.

The event will take place on Sunday 18th September, which just so happens to be the weekend of Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday; a weekend where many celebrations are planned across the country.

Chris Evans runs the project and is organising the event, which will include a red carpet opening to a champagne reception, ahead of the screening of the film, and we’re happy to lend our support for the great event, which sounds like it is attracting some pretty special guests. As the event details become available, we’ll post more information on these pages, but we just initially wanted to bring your attention to this wonderful charity on the day in which the magical Spielberg movie The BFG hits cinemas. We suggest that you go see it as soon as you possibly can, it’s a beautiful family film.

You can grab more information about The Butterfly Garden over on their official website, and read our review of The BFG over here.
