A fourth film in the current Star Trek series has been officially confirmed. Star Trek Beyond, the third film in the series doesn’t officially hit cinemas until Friday, but Paramount are pushing ahead with another film after good word of mouth and positive reviews for their latest.
Here’s what Paramount Pictures had to say about the planned Star Trek 4.
In the next installment of the epic space adventure, Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk will cross paths with a man he never had a chance to meet, but whose legacy has haunted him since the day he was born: his father.
His father, George Kirk, played by Chris Hemswoth, met his maker in the first Star Trek film in the series, but the filmmakers have obviously thought of a way to bring him back for the new sequel. J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay will be writing the screenplay for the movie, while J.J. Abrams and Lindsey Weber will be producing through Bad Robot Productions. A director hasn’t yet been announced.
More on this as it comes in.
