A sequel to Ghostbusters will probably happen, so says a Sony executive after the film’s great opening and its mainly positive reviews.
“The Ghostbusters world is alive and well,” Rory Bruer, president of worldwide distribution at Sony Pictures Entertaiment, told The Wrap. “I expect Ghostbusters to become an important brand and franchise.” He added, “While nothing has been officially announced yet, there’s no doubt in my mind it will happen.”
Ghostbusters makes its long-awaited return, rebooted with a cast of hilarious new characters. Thirty years after the beloved original franchise took the world by storm, director Paul Feig brings his fresh take to the supernatural comedy, joined by some of the funniest actors working today – Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth. This summer, they’re here to save the world!
We also reviewed the film positively over here, and would embrace a sequel from Paul Feig, should he return to direct and potentially write with Katie Dippold, wo also co-penned the first one.
More news as it comes in.
