Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 concept art reveals a new character in the movie named Mantis.

The Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 concept art arrives ahead of the film’s presence at next week’s San Diego Comic Con.

It is set to have a big presence at next week’s San Diego Comic Con, and ahead of that writer and director James Gunn has revealed new Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 concept art on his official Facebook page.

Well here you go, my friends. First bit of new concept art featuring the Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, first revealed by our friends at Entertainment Weekly. Drax, baby Groot, Yondu, Star-Lord, Mantis, Rocket, Nebula, and Gamora. Art by my wonderful pal Andy Park – this image led us a lot as we were developing the film. I can’t wait to show you guys more of what we have in store for you… stay tuned for San Diego Comicon announcements next week! #GotGVol2

As you can see, Drax, Groot, Yondu, Star-Lord, Rocket, Nebula, and Gamora all appear in the nw image, along with a brand new character named Mantis – an acquaintance of the Guardians played by actress Pom Klementieff (Spike Lee’s Oldboy).

The image was first revealed by Entertainment Weekly, who spoke with executive producer Jonathan Schwartz, who described the new character. “She has never really experienced social interaction,” he said. “Everything she learns about dealing with people, she learns from the Guardians of the Galaxy, which is a very weird group to learn your social intricacies from.”

Schwartz also spoke of Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) in the next instalment, and what he will look like.  “He doesn’t have the wisdom and experience of that Groot,” Schwartz says. “He’s a younger Groot and a more rambunctious Groot. The question is, is he the same Groot, just smaller? Or is he a different Groot that’s sprung up from the seed of the first Groot?”

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 will open in 2017.
