Production on The Dark Tower, the adaptation of Stephen King‘s series of books is off any running and the very first set images of Matthew McConaughey on the set of the film in New York City have hit the net!
McConaughey plays the Randall Flagg/ The Man In Black in the film (obvious from the following images), while Idris Elba portrays Roland Deschain / The Gunslinger. Here’s those pics of McConaughey in Madison Square Park very recently.

Here’s a bit more about the source material from the man’s official website.
The Dark Tower series tells the story of Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, who is traveling southeast across Mid-World’s post-apocalyptic landscape, searching for the powerful but elusive magical edifice known as The Dark Tower. Located in the fey region of End-World, amid a sea of singing red roses, the Dark Tower is the nexus point of the time-space continuum. It is the heart of all worlds, but it is also under threat. Someone, or something, is using the evil technology of the Great Old Ones to destroy it.
Inspired in equal parts by Robert Browning’s poem, “Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came,” J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, and Sergio Leone’s spaghetti Western classics, The Dark Tower series is an epic of Arthurian proportions. It is Stephen King’s magnum opus, and is the center of his amazing creative universe.
The Dark Tower is due for release in 2017. Nikolaj Arcel directs from a screenplay by himself, Akiva Goldsman, Anders Thomas Jensen and Jeff Pinkner.
Shooting is scheduled to continue throughout Manhattan all weekend.

part of what made the dark tower interesting, in the first 4 or 5 books, was the racial tension between the character Roland, who is a stereotypical ‘cowboy’, and Susannah, a black woman from the civil rights era 1960s. Now that Roland is a black man, this will have to be done differently and I think that fucking sucks..did the creators of this even read the books??

Maybe Susannah will be a white woman?
Do you have to swear?
