Just when you thought that the cast of the upcoming Fast 8 couldn’t get any better, they go and add a British, Academy Award winning actress to the action. Helen Mirren has officially joined Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson etc. in the eighth movie in the popular movie series, in an unnamed part.
Elle reported the news of her casting: “I’ve always rather loved driving,” Mirren explained. “I said, ‘I’ll be in it, but only if I’m allowed to drive if I do drive in it.’ But we’ll see. We’ll see how it transpires. Film is a wonderful thing and it can be so many different things. I don’t want to turn my back on any of the different ways movies can be. I love the movies. I love going to the films. I like very serious films, I love foreign films, and I love big, fun movies–as long as they’re well made and they’ve got good scripts. That’s the most important thing.”
Shooting is now underway on the movie in locations that include Cuba, Iceland and New York City.
F. Gary Gray is directing Fast 8, and the likes of Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Elsa Pataky, Nathalie Emmanuel and Lucas Black are all expected to return, along with Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson and Kurt Russell. Charlize Theron will playing the film’s villain, and will make her debut in the high-octane franchise.
