Having just finished work on The Conjuring 2, a film which he’s currently out promoting, James Wan has spoken about his next project, one which is slightly bigger in scale. That film is Aquaman, which will be led by Jason Momoa as the iconic DC title character.
Wan spoke with Cinema Blend, and commented on the project, which is set-up over at Warner Brothers. Here’s what we had to say:
“There are so many superhero movies now; I don’t want to make a superhero movie now for the sake of doing it, but there’s something unique to the world of Aquaman. There’s a reason why they’ve never made a movie about this until now, because technology has never allowed us to tackle something this complicated. And so because of that it feels like something different, and that uniqueness is what I’m excited about.”
Aquaman was created by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger, and first appeared in comic book forma back in 1941. He will make his big-screen debut in the forthcoming Justice League, before making his way to cinemas with Wan’s stand-alone movie in 2018.
More as we get it.
