The Han Solo movie will start shooting in January

Star Wars

We’ve been hearing some alarming news about reshoots on the Gareth Edwards directed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which personally I don’t think we should be getting too worked up about, but here’s some positive news surrounding the stand-alone movies – the next one will start shooting in January.

Said movie, which will revolve around the exploits of a young Han Solo, will start shooting in London early next year with Chris Miller and Phil Lord at the helm.

The film’s writer Lawrence Kasdan, who worked on the original trilogy, as well as last year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, spoke at the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival over the weekend, which Star Wars News picked up on.

“You know, Chris Miller and Phil Lord are going to direct it… They’re great, funny and imaginative and we’ve had a great time together”, Kasdan said.

“My son [Jon] and I wrote the script and Chris and Phil are working on it and they’re about to move to London to start shooting in January. And it should be fun”.

Most of the Star Wars movies have shot in and around London, including Rian Johnson’s in-production Star Wars: Episode 8, which will release next December.

Alden Ehrenreich will play Han Solo in the planned movie. More news as we get it.
