We’ve not seen anything very much about the Kickboxer redo Kickboxer: Vengeance (it will be released later this year), but work is already underway on the sequel, and according to Variety, Boxing heavyweight Mike Tyson is all set to face off against Jean Claude Van Damme after joining the cast.
“This is a monumental moment for us,” said producer Robert Hickman of Our House Films to the trade. “We have already signed on 14 champions from the sporting world, mostly decorated fighters from the UFC, being able to add Mike Tyson as a cast member adds a whole new element and excitement to the film.”
Tyson appeared in this year’s Ip Man 3 opposite Donnie Yen, and appeared in the last two ‘Hangover’ movies as well. The Kickboxer sequel, which we’re hearing is being called Kickboxer: Retaliation, is now in production for a 2017 release.
We’ll bring you more as we get it.
