Just the right age for this sh*t! ‘Lethal Weapon’ trailer lands

Hot on the heels of a series order, Fox has released a full-blown trailer for its small screen reboot of Lethal Weapon. Clayne Crawford and Damon Wayans Sr take the roles of human powder keg Martin Riggs and ageing partner Roger Murtaugh, legendary ass-kickers of the LAPD.

How do Crawford and Wayans measure up to filmic forebears Mel Gibson and Danny Glover? Surprisingly well it seems, if this is anything to go by:

Fans will notice certain elements are present and correct, from the classic Eighties logo to Riggs’ beach side trailer home. The interplay between the leads looks solid and the whole deal is shot through with the same mix of ludicrous, brightly-lit action and buddy antics that made the original so beloved. It’s worth noting however the YouTube likes are only just keeping on top of the dislikes!

Footage comes from the McG-directed pilot, which co-stars Fast & Furious star Jordana Brewster as what appears to be some kind of sexy therapist and Mad Men‘s Kevin Rahm as the duo’s exasperated boss. Keesha Sharp plays Murtagh’s wife Trish. Chuck‘s Matt Miller wrote the script, based on characters created by Shane Black. The series is expected to land at Christmas.

THN spoke to Clayne Crawford about his thoughts on inheriting the maverick mantle from Gibson. Stick with us for the exclusive, appearing on the site this week!
